Benefits of Arts Education 2: Arts and SAT

Does participation in the arts have anything to do with SAT scores?

Yes, turns out they correlate positively!  Generally, the more participation in the arts, the higher the score.  Research is here.

So schools, particularly high schools and also elementary schools, that support and fund arts courses are supporting students' academic achievement. Schools that under-fund or eliminate their arts courses are shooting themselves in the foot as regards overall academic achievement.
