How to Read Music (Reading) 6

Because I grew up learning to play the piano, I hadn't even heard of any clefs other than bass and treble.  When I went into high school, I began to hear about mysterious clefs, like "alto clef" and I barely even believed that they were real.  Little did I know that some instruments, such as the viola, primarily play in alto clef.  As I eventually learned to play in clefs other than treble and bass, I learned a lot about music notation.

This lesson focuses on two very commonly used clefs, alto and tenor, how they came about and how to read them.  The lesson is about 3 1/2 minutes long.  I invite you to take the little quiz I wrote to help you find out how well you learned the information in the lesson.  You may take the quiz as often as you like.
