ISIS killed his piano

In an effort to silence his "sinful" music making, ISIS burned Ahmed's piano.  But he believed music brings hope, so he would not be silent.  Read the amazing story here.

Update: The organization is still active and still terrorizing people.  Last I heard, Ahmed fled Syria, leaving his young family behind.  He hoped to reunite his family, possibly in Europe.

Note to my readers: Please be aware, if you aren't already, that ISIS and Islam are not the same.  According to a personal friend familiar with both ISIS and Islam, many Muslims do not believe that ISIS members are true Muslims.

My readers may be wondering, "What do an article about ISIS killing a piano, hymn arrangements, lessons on reading music, and quotes about music have in common?  What are all these topics doing in the same blog set?"  Besides the obvious fact that all of these blogs are about music, the deeper answer is simple.  From my perspective, God is beautiful.  Whether he's inspiring beautiful music, groundbreaking research, or the invention of music notation, he is beautiful.  He answers the longings of our hearts for beauty, transcendence, joy, wisdom and knowledge.  Whether recognized or not, he is the source of all that is good and fitting.  He is the mostly unspoken common thread that runs through all of my blogs.  God is beautiful.

Edward Wolfe

Edward Wolfe has been a fan of Christian apologetics since his teenage years, when he began seriously to question the truth of the Bible and the reality of Jesus. About twenty years ago, he started noticing that Christian evidences roughly fell into five categories, the five featured on this website.
Although much of his professional life has been in Christian circles (12 years on the faculties of Pacific Christian College, now a part of Hope International University, and Manhattan Christian College and also 12 years at First Christian Church of Tempe), much of his professional life has been in public institutions (4 years at the University of Colorado and 19 years at Tempe Preparatory Academy).
His formal academic preparation has been in the field of music. His bachelor degree was in Church Music with a minor in Bible where he studied with Roger Koerner, Sue Magnusson, Russel Squire, and John Rowe; his master’s was in Choral Conducting where he studied with Howard Swan, Gordon Paine, and Roger Ardrey; and his doctorate was in Piano Performance, Pedagogy, and Literature, where he also studied group dynamics, humanistic psychology, and Gestalt theory with Guy Duckworth.
He and his wife Louise have four grown children and six grandchildren.
