Music Appreciation 6 Glass's Harmonium Mountain

We'll listen to a final piece in our series of six music appreciation pieces: Philip Glass's (1937- ) "Harmonium Mountain."  He is sometimes known as a minimalist composer, because he used minimal musical materials, repeated over and over with small changes.  Some people find "Harmonium" repetitious and dull.  I find it rather hypnotic and immersive.  I'd love to hear what you think in the comments section below.

Maestro Schwarz's lesson is only a little over 2 minutes long.  The complete, mesmerizing piece is about 5 minutes.

Remember, you can hear the complete piece by clicking on Watch the full performance here on the lesson page.  I wrote a 10-question quiz on the lesson which you can find here

Note: if you'd like to see all of the music appreciation posts, one after the other, click on the words "Music Curriculum" at the top of the page on the right.
