Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian, martyr, and anti-Nazi dissident. His books are considered classics of twentieth-century Christian theology, and include The Cost of Discipleship, Life Together, and Psalms: The Prayer Book of the Bible.  He  Is the subject of numerous biographies, including Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by New York Times best-selling author Eric Metaxas.  Bonhoeffer was executed by the Nazis a month before the end of World War II.
